A long-ish intro: what I wanted for Christmas 2015
What I wanted for Christmas this year was my first fiction publication.
I would have celebrated with copious mudslides and let myself take a brief break from the constant and exhilarating journey that is fiction world building and it would have been grand and validating and wonderful; but alas, this is not in the cards for me this year.
But I was SO CLOSE guys. So &*&#^%@ close.
It’s taken me a year of submitting to get this close to publication (editor loved first draft, though said there were problems, gave me comments for edits to fix the problems, said they’d look again if I did edits; I did the edits; editor didn’t like the new draft = not published). It really sucks if I’m being honest. Right now I’m trying my best and slugging along – this is a reality check for me. I need to be patient and to realize good things take time.
However, this past year I’ve been introduced to a wondrous world of dark artisans who constantly inspire me and encourage me just by doing what they’re doing. Making art is hard. Sometimes it’s rewarding and sometimes it seems the furthest thing from it, but we keep going because we can’t imagine life without it. For all of the artists, darkly inclined-folk, and witchy persons in your life, these gifts are sure to be memorable and cherished. Here are my suggestions:
