There’s nothing more titillating than a room full of spirits. If you’re in need of entertaining inspiration over this long weekend, look no further than the spooky Victorian women who adorned their parlors with dripping golden candles and called their dead lovers and friends to come hither during the séance. Like Samhain, the séance sought to blur the lines between the living and the dead. It was both an occasion for paranormal wonder and great fun.
Today over at Dirge, I wrote about how séances also sought to empower the women who participated in them. You can give it a read here if you’re interested.
